Support Group

Tristyn Newman, Iowa County Services Coordinator

After a long year of social distancing and safety measures, Iowa County Family Advocates Office is restarting a support group for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Support groups are a great resource for survivors for a number of reasons. Support groups can offer a safe space for survivors to open up and talk about their experiences without judgement or discrimination. They also offer peer support and connections. These kind of connections are very important throughout the healing process, and can often turn into long lasting friendships.

Family Advocates keeps clients’ safety and needs as a priority. What survivors can expect to experience at support groups facilitated by Family Advocates are social distancing practices, hand sanitizer accessible, and masks worn by staff at all times. Adults and children are welcome to join us from 10am-11:30am on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of June, July and August.

The next meeting is Tuesday, June 22nd. For inquiries please contact Tristyn at 608-778-8714, or dial 1-800-924-2624.
